Stories from Elders 3

Grandmother Spider

Many things you are telling. Grandmother Spider has been talking to my thoughts; to my heart about the leaves that are falling; the colors of the wind how they make circle around me with the wind.  Oh my, grandmother spider please show me the four winds; tell me the directions, and walk with me to the path you have set before me to find.

Grandmother Spider--please show to me the direction of the four winds: show to me the past, show to me the tomorrows, show to me today.  I feel lost and need a way.

Grandmother Spider--Grandmother Spider-- you are a wonderful teacher and Creator has sent you to me for direction.  You correct me yes you do Grandmother Spider, to see when I am wrong and being led in the wrong direction.

Grandmother Spider  show to me the many colors of the winds that blow through my hair, that brush my face at times. There are too many obstacles that come before me that cause me to be misled and then I fall and stumble.

Grandmother Spider--you are a teacher for Mother Earth as I sit and see you make your beautiful webs of life. You are great teacher and come when I need you.  You listen to my stories and give to me many more.

Grandmother Spider, I see you how lovely you are how strong you are, how you send to me the bear, the wolf, the eagle the crow, and the dancing song birds.

The wolf shows me direction in many ways; wolf shows to me that I must think and tells me 'yes, you can do this; not good; and not to go there.'

The eagle comes and flies low to show me the way so I do not become lost and get off the direction of the pathway.

The crow tells me when there is news; crow tells me all things old and new and what is to come.

The dancing song birds bring to me joy when I am sad, when I am happy went I am crying or blue. They bring to me so much joy in the morning and in the evening.

Suddenly, Grandmother Spider you bite me because I did not give ear and take heart to you because you are bringing new things to me, and I have not listen to you. Grandmother Spider you. As I begin to hear your words again, you pull me back to watch and hear your stories of the four winds. Tell me the directions, walk with me to the path you have set before me to find.

Grandmother Spider, please show to me the direction of the four winds. Show to me the past, show to me the tomorrows. Show to me today.  I feel lost and need a way. I am here to listen to your words.
