What a glorious day - its our first year anniversary January 1st, 2011 !!! having launched at midnight on New Year's Eve - the dawn of 2010. Enjoy this issue filled to the brim with articles, poetry, & profiles on interesting leaders in NDN country. There's great stories for kids in the Stories from Elders - and so much more. A bit about who we are follows.
The historical marginalization of indigenous people, the dogma of stigma, the continued oppression of an entire race of people to the political and social edges of society cannot and must not continue. Telling the story begins the healing. Telling the story also begins the true understanding of a history of both tragedy and triumph.
Whisper n Thunder exists to tell that story, to empower through the expression of uncensored truth. Open and honest discourse will bring transformation; transformation will bring change. Change for a tomorrow where suicide, substance abuse, depression and isolation are no longer a part of the conversation.
We ask you to become a part of the Whisper n Thunder movement, through your readership, your financial support, and your actions. Please donate what you can, or subscribe (see below). Subscriptions fund the Winds Scholarship, and donations will help birth a future that is brighter than yesterday. This magazine is only the beginning...
